After six hard days of racing already done, it was time for the final race of the Intelligentsia Cup. I was racing in the 2/3 category with teammates Charlotte and Farleigh Creswicke. We had a good start to the week with Charlotte winning the first criterium and Farleigh taking 4th in the road race. Our final race had about 30 riders, which was one of the biggest fields we had all week. As a team, we were able to be aggressive and be almost always near the front of the pack. There were a few attacks that went off the front, but nothing that was able to stay for a long time. Halfway through the 40 minute race, one of the ISCorp girls attacked. It was a strong attack and no one was very eager to chase. The girl had been out front for quite a few laps before we realized we needed to do something. In another few laps we were able to bring her back leaving only about 4 or 5 laps left. With 2 laps to go, I heard a crash behind me. Going into the last lap, there was another crash where Charlotte went down. Luckily she was okay but sadly her bike was not. After turning the last corner there was a long straight to the finish where I was able to sprint into 5th place. Overall, it was a great week of racing and an amazing experience.
